Rushden & Diamonds executive Helen Thompson quits

Rushden & Diamonds

Helen Thompson has retired as Rushden & Diamonds' vice-chairman after six years in an executive role at the club.

Thompson will remain at Nene Park as vice-president and will continue to be the secretary of fans group Rushden & Diamonds Supporters Ltd.

"The time is right for me to take a back seat now the club has new owners and enjoy my new role," she said.

"I shall now be able to watch the whole of a home match for the first time in a number of years."

Diamonds came under new ownership at the beginning of December when former Weymouth Town chief executive Gary Calder bought the club for an undisclosed fee.
