The 24-year-old started his career as a trainee at Posh and made 118 appearances before loan spells at Crawley and Dagenham & Redbridge.
Manager Justin Edinburgh said: "Jamie has a wealth of experience and gives us options down the left and is comfortable in midfield or defence."
The club are yet to reveal the length of the deal Day has been offered.
Edinburgh added: "Jamie had endless offers from other clubs and it shows that its not all about money. Jamie's been down here a few times and liked what he saw, he believes in what we're doing as a football club and what we want to achieve."
