Edinburgh targets full-time role

Justin Edinburgh
Diamonds have lost only three times in 11 games since Edinburgh took over

Rushden & Diamonds caretaker boss Justin Edinburgh is hoping to be named the club's full-time manager within the next seven days.

The former Spurs and Portsmouth defender has been in charge of the Blue Square Premier outfit since the resignation of Garry Hill in February.

"Myself and the chairman are talking about it at the present time," he told BBC Radio Northampton.

"It's ongoing but we need to sort it out sooner rather than later."

"Hopefully we'll do that within the next week.

"There are players here - as well as myself - who need their futures to be settled, so we can have some stability and get the club moving in the right direction," he added.

Diamonds are currently 12th in the table, going into Saturday's Northamptonshire derby against local rivals Kettering Town at Nene Park.
