Power appointed to Rushden board

Lee Power
The ex-Cambridge chairman played as a striker for Norwich

Ex-Cambridge United chairman Lee Power has joined the board of Blue Square Premier rivals Rushden & Diamonds.

Power told Rushden's website: "The chairman and board of directors have the vision to get the club back into the Football League next season.

"The club has laid down the foundations to achieve that aim and I am very much looking forward to being part of this."

The 36-year-old former Norwich City player resigned his position at the Abbey Stadium in January.

Rushden chairman Keith Cousins said: "Lee brings with him a vast amount of knowledge in this industry.

"I am thrilled that Lee has decided to join us here at Nene Park, especially considering he had a number of other offers from various football clubs, including those in the Football League.

"We will continue to develop the club both on and off the field and build a brighter future at Nene Park."
