Rushden and Diamonds manager Barry Hunter says 16-year-old striker Lee Tomlin has a big future in the game.
The teenager became the youngest player to represent the club when he came on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw against Wycombe over the weekend.
Hunter told BBC Radio Northampton: "He's instinctive, clever, quick and is a goalscorer.
"He feels he should have won the game at the weekend for us and he was apologising for that which is silly."
Hunter added: "But that just shows the nature of the kids that we are bringing through."
