Rotherham appoint Andy Scott as new manager

Rotherham United have appointed Andy Scott as their new manager on a three-year contract.

The 38-year-old replaces Ronnie Moore, who was sacked last month before Andy Liddell took charge as caretaker boss.

It sees a return to South Yorkshire for Scott, who spent five years at neighbours Sheffield United where he made 87 appearances, scoring 11 goals.

Scott, who led the Bees to the League Two title in 2008, was sacked as manager of Brentford in February.

Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'm very impressed with this guy and I think he's going to be a knockout.

"A name like Andy Scott, his CV presented something that we had to look into and he wanted the job.

"It's a three-year contract and I'm not just looking at the next five games but the next three years and to get some momentum together.

"He's young, vibrant, has a track record in League Two in getting Brentford promoted. I think the discussions we had over many hours convinced myself and the board that this was too good to miss."
