McGovern moves to Victoria Park in search of first-team football
Ross County head coach Derek Adams has signed Dundee United's Northern Irish goalkeeper Michael McGovern.
The 24-year-old keeper heads for Victoria Park after a year at United, having moved to Tannadice from Celtic.
Adams told the club website: "Michael is an excellent signing for us. He's a big lad and an excellent shot-stopper.
"The experience of training alongside the likes of Artur Boruc and Lukasz Zaluska, who are world-class keepers, is invaluable for someone so young."
McGovern left Celtic Park for Tannadice in search of first-team football but, with Terrors manager Craig Levein bringing in former Hearts goalie Steve Banks to replace Celtic-bound Zaluska, he has decided to move north under freedom of contract.
However, McGovern will have to fight for his place at County with Joe Malin, who featured for the club in the second half of last season.
"We've obviously known for some time what a promising talent Joe is and he proved that by competing with Derek Soutar last season," said Adams.
"Having two hungry young keepers fighting for the starting place will bring out the best in both of them and that's exactly what I want - players competing for their positions."
