Rochdale snap up Cooksey
Rochdale have signed midfielder Ernie Cooksey on a two-year contract.

Cooksey was released by Oldham on Wednesday but was quick to find a new club, with Carlisle also interested in signing him.

Dale manager Steve Parkin told the club's website: "I'm delighted to have him at the club.

"He's an energetic player and there are plenty of positive things about his make-up and that should rub off on the other players," Parkin added.

Carlisle boss Paul Simpson was disappointed to miss out on the player.

"We had agreed terms with Cooksey after a week of talks but he's chosen to join Rochdale instead," Simpson told BBC Radio Cumbria.

He added: "It's disappointing but we'll move on."
