Reading part company with Convey

Bobby Convey
Covney's last league start for Reading came at Charlton in August

Reading have allowed United States international winger Bobby Convey to leave the club by mutual consent.

The 25-year-old has struggled to force his way into boss Steve Coppell's plans this season, starting only six games.

Director of football Nicky Hammond told the club website: "Things haven't worked out for Bobby recently.

"But he played a massive part in our record-breaking title-winning season in 2005/06 and consequently will always have a place in the club's history."

Convey joined the Royals in the summer of 2004 from Major League Soccer side DC United and made 22 appearances in his first year in English football.

But he played a leading role as Reading ran away with the Championship title with a record 106 points in 2005/06, missing only one league game and scoring seven goals.

He struggled with injury in Reading's two Premier League seasons and had made only nine appearances in total this term, the last coming in the FA Cup defeat at Cardiff in January.
