Williams signs new deal
Reading skipper Adie Williams has handed the in-form First Division side a major boost by signing a new deal at the Madejski Stadium.

The 31-year old defender has signed until 2005 as third-placed Reading prepare to push for a Premiership spot.

The Welshman has missed just two league games for the Royals this term and manager Alan Pardew was quick to underline his importance to the side.

"I'm very pleased that Adie has signed this contract. He has found his best form this year and has been a real leader for us.

"His inclusion in the Welsh squad this season was no more than he deserved and maybe they need to take another look at him soon," Pardew told the club's official website.

The former Reading trainee re-joined the Royals in 2000 after an unhappy four-year spell at Wolves.
