Rangers have signed Danish goalkeeper Jesper Christiansen from OB Odense, but Spanish signing target Raul Tamudo has returned to Spain.

The 22-year-old keeper was snapped up for 3m on a five-year contract and he will travel with the squad to Austria for Wednesday's Champions league match against Sturm Graz.

Personal terms have been agreed and the player, who has been a member of Denmark's international set-up, has completed a medical.

But Tamudo, who arrived in Glasgow on Friday for an eight-day trial period, has returned to Spain having been unable to undergo a medical due to a knee injury picked up on international duty.

Able deputy

The signing of Christiansen ends Rangers' search for an experienced goalkeeper to deputise for the injured Stefan Klos.

Klos is out for at least a month having aggravated an ankle injury against Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Mark Brown has been an able deputy for Klos in the SPL, but Rangers boss Dick Advocaat was unwilling to plunge the 19-year-old into the European arena.

There was bad news for Advocaat, though, when Tamudo was deemed to be unable to complete certain tests because of the extent of his injury.

According to the club's official website, he has returned to Spain to continue his rehabilitation and hopes to return to Glasgow in the near future.
