Kerkar impressed manager Walter Smith during a trial period in Glasgow
Rangers have signed Salim Kerkar following protracted attempts to bring the French-Algerian winger to Ibrox.
The 23-year-old free agent has agreed terms until the end of the season subject to international clearance.
Rangers withdrew from a deal last month after his former club Gueugnon demanded £300,000 compensation.
"He is shaping up well. He is a nice lad but more importantly he has a good left foot," assistant manager Ally McCoist told the club website.
Last month, Rangers manager Walter Smith said the Scottish champions were unable to secure a decision from Fifa in terms of compensation after Gueugnon had released him.
Kerkar, the younger brother of former Manchester City, Clyde and Dundee United midfielder Karim, left the French third-tier club in the summer and Rangers had hoped to complete the move in September.
