Kenny Miller unconcerned by Rangers contract talk

Miller has made an impressive start to the season with Rangers

Rangers striker Kenny Miller insists the speculation surrounding his future is not affecting his game.

"It doesn't bother me," the 30-year-old told BBC Scotland. "I just get my head down and play.

"There was a contract for me on the table and I rejected it and that's where we stand.

"If I'm playing well then hopefully everything will get ironed out. These things come up when a player enters his last year and you just accept it."

Miller has made a great start to the new campaign, with five goals to his name, and manager Walter Smith revealed last month that a second offer had been made to keep the player at Ibrox.

Rangers recently lost prolific striker Kris Boyd under freedom of contract, while James Beattie, Vladimir Weiss and Nikica Jelavic have been brought in to bolster Smith's attacking options.

"We had it with big Boydie last year," added Miller. "Whether he was going to sign or whether he was going to go.

"I've not said anything. I'm just enjoying my football and looking forward to scoring more goals.

"We've lost a lot of goals with Boydie gone and I've got off to a decent start, getting five in the first three games.

"If I can score as many as Boydie did over the last four years, I'll be really happy.

"But as long as I'm contributing towards the team, I'm happy."

Miller has an excellent record of goal every other game since he returned for a second spell at Ibrox two years ago but Boyd's exploits often overshadowed the former Hibs, Wolves, Celtic and Derby forward's efforts.

"When you form a partnership, people have roles and me and Boydie had a good understanding," Miller explained. "It worked for us, it worked for the team.

"With him away, I've found myself in positions for the tap-ins that maybe Boydie would have had and I've been fortunate enough to put them away."
