Watford and Burnley have joined Nottingham Forest in the chase for Charlie Adam should Rangers decide to sell the midfielder.

English Championship strugglers Forest have already watched the 23-year-old in a recent reserve game.

Boss Colin Calderwood has also enquired about the player, and now two more Championship sides have expressed interest in Adam.

Rangers want to reduce their wage bill and add new players in January.

Adam has been twice capped for Scotland and is a product of the Rangers youth system.

The midfielder became a first-team regular at Ibrox, following loan spells at Ross County and St Mirren.

However, he has found his appearances limited this season, having only played eight times in manager Walter Smith's side.

Smith has indicated he wants to shed up to 10 players from his first-team squad of 28 men.
