Velicka completes Rangers switch

Velicka celebrates scoring for Hearts at Ibrox
Velicka will be back in Scotland next season

Rangers have made their second summer signing after Viking Stavanger striker Andrius Velicka finalised his 1m move.

The Lithuania international agreed a three-year deal after undergoing a medical at Murray Park on Monday.

Rangers said on their website that Velicka, 29, would be registered on 14 July, when he joins the rest of the squad on the training camp in Holland.

The former Hearts striker bolsters Rangers' attacking options after Kenny Miller's 2m move from Derby County.

Velicka, who had signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Tippeligaen outfit, scored five goals in 13 games for Viking.

Viking sporting director Egil Ostenstad said the club did not stand in his way when Rangers expressed their interest.

"It wouldn't have been right for us to block a move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe," he said.

"He will earn considerably more than he earns at Viking."

Velicka scored 25 goals in 55 appearances for Hearts before his surprise move to Norway.

Velicka and Miller's arrival will fuel further speculation about the future of Rangers' existing strikers such as Daniel Cousin, Kris Boyd and Jean-Claude Darcheville.

Nacho Novo signed a new two-year contract extension in December.
