Smith pleased with Ibrox victory
Rangers manager Walter Smith
Smith was pleased with his side's performance at Ibrox
Rangers boss Walter Smith was happy to see his side close the gap on Celtic with a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock after a hard Champions League tie.

"It's always awkward after European matches to keep your game at the highest level," he told BBC Sport.

"We dipped a little in the first half, after an excellent start, but we were strong in the second half.

"After the second goal we kept up the pressure and had one or two legitimate claims for penalties."

Jean Claude Darcheville opened the scoring after just four minutes but did not finish the first half.

However, Smith said the striker simply felt a tight hamstring and expects him to be available next weekend.
