Rangers boss Walter Smith said his side fully merited their 3-0 victory after an impressive showing against Aberdeen.
Walter Smith said his players merited their victory against the Dons
"I don't think anybody could begrudge us our margin of victory," he told BBC Sport. "The whole team was excellent in the first-half.
"It was a necessary win today because once we get to the split we will have to play the other five teams at the top of the league.
"We played very well, played some good football and had a good end product."
Reacting to Kris Boyd's hat-trick against the Dons, Smith said he was one of the best finishers he had seen.
"It was an excellent contribution, I'm delighted for him," said the Ibrox boss.
"If we can supply him with opportunities to score there is no doubt he is as good as anyone at taking them.
"The three today were varied - right foot, left foot and a header.
"He has obviously got bits of his game he has to improve. We will have to look at that as well and say we've got a boy who is a natural goalscorer and use that to the full."
