Nacho Novo has sought to clarify reports he is keen to make a swift return to his native Spain.
On Tuesday the 27-year-old striker told a Spanish radio station he had played in Scotland for five years and wanted to join a club in his homeland.
But the former Raith and Dundee striker said: "I am trying to win a new contract with Rangers not leave them.
"In fact, it would be my dream to play here for the rest of my career. I love this club."
Novo added: "I did speak with Radio Marca, but I talk to them quite a bit.
"They asked me if I wanted to return to Spain one day and I said that I did because, like any person, I would like to go back to my homeland one day - but not at the end of this season," he told Rangers' official website.
Novo signed for Raith Rovers from Huesca in 2001 and scored 20 goals in his first season before moving to Dundee for £100,000.
