Rangers striker Dado Prso fears an old knee injury could come back to haunt him and wants to reduce his workload.
Prso was Rangers leading scorer last season
The Croatia international underwent surgery in a bid to cure the problem three years ago while at Monaco but was warned the repair was only temporary.
He told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti: "Doctors said it would last for four or five seasons more.
"I am thinking about asking the Croatian FA to let me miss international friendly matches."
Prso was on target during Sunday's 3-0 league opener against Livingston and scored 21 goals during his first season at Ibrox.
