Rangers have appointed goalkeeper Stefan Klos club skipper for the forthcoming season.
Klos joined Rangers in 1998
The 33-year-old German takes over from Craig Moore, who lost the captain's armband after falling out with manager Alex McLeish.
"In terms of experience and knowledge of what the club is all about, Stefan fits the bill perfectly," McLeish told the club website.
New signing Alex Rae will act as vice-captain to Klos.
McLeish, meanwhile, has reopened the door to contract rebel Fernando Ricksen after missing out on Giourkas Seitaridis.
McLeish had targeted the Greek Euro 2004 star to replace the Dutchman, who had appeared to be on his way after rejecting the club's new contract offer.
But Seitaridis has chosen to join European champions Porto and Ricksen is back in McLeish's plans.
Ricksen is out of contract at the end of next season and McLeish faces losing the player for nothing next summer.
"Fernando Ricksen is the first-choice right-back," said McLeish. "Losing him for nothing is not something that totally over concerns me.
"I have got to look short-term here and try to get success as quickly as possible.
"In many ways it would be poor timing if we were to accept an offer for him now and then try to replace him.
"We negotiated for Giourkas Seitaridis but it was dependent on Fernando leaving."
