Raith saved from expulsion
Raith have a chance to celebrate in the cup
Raith Rovers have paid an outstanding £2000 fine after being threatened with expulsion from this season's Scottish Cup.
But their latest French trialist will not be involved after he checked out of Kirkcaldy less than 24 hours after arriving. Earlier this week, the Scottish Football Association set the First Division club a deadline of Monday for the fine to be paid. And Raith's official website on Friday announced that the fine had now been paid in full. Checked out Rovers had failed to pay the fine, which was levied more than a year ago for their poor disciplinary record during season 1999-2000. They had also missed a number of deadlines for payment after an appeal against the fine was unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Raith's website reported that: "French trialist Christophe Le Grix arrived in Kirkcaldy yesterday morning, trained, checked in to his hotel and then promptly checked out again. "His rather brief stay in Kirkcaldy beats former manager Tommy McLean's previous record of six days." Le Grix is a 27-year-old midfielder currently with Caen and whose previous clubs include Lorient and Metz.
