Preston North End have terminated the contract of long serving defender Callum Davidson by mutual consent.

The Scotland international, 34, who had been captain of North End since the summer of 2009, leaves Deepdale after almost seven years with the club.

Meanwhile, Preston have extended the loan spell of Everton reserve keeper Iain Turner by a further month.

The 27-year-old arrived at Deepdale in February from Goodison to provide competition for Andy Lonergan.

He will now be available until after Preston's visit to Portsmouth on April 10.

He is yet to taste victory in his six games for North End, of which they have drawn four games and lost two.

As for Davidson, he been out of action since the appointment of Phil Brown as manager due to injury.

He made a total of 181 appearances for the club under five different managers.
