Manager Brown insists confidence is no problem at PNE

Preston have drawn three matches and lost four under Brown

Preston boss Phil Brown believes lack of confidence is not an issue despite the club's fight to avoid relegation from the Championship.

North End, who let a two goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Watford on Tuesday, lie bottom of English football's second tier, nine points adrift of safety.

"There's loads of positivity at this club," Brown told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"In the first half we saw the best of Preston and we've got to stick with that for 90 minutes."

Preston have still to win under Brown since the former Hull boss replaced Darren Ferguson at Deepdale in January.

When you're at the bottom you don't feel as if the luck's on your side

But after his previous experience of fighting for survival during his time at the KC Stadium, Brown said he understood what every Preston player is going through.

"I've been involved in relegation battles before and it inhibits a player and stops him doing things he's good at," said the 51-year-old.

"When you're at the bottom you don't feel as if the luck's on your side and it gets frustrating. When you're at the top things to tend to fall for you and you're more relaxed.

"The lads are not happy with the point because it was 2-0 at half time, but at least they got something from the game."

Preston host league leaders QPR on Saturday.
