No Reading Irvine approach - Shaw

Alan Irvine
Irvine led North End to the play-offs by the narrowest margin

Preston North End chairman Derek Shaw insists the club have received no official approach from Championship rivals Reading for manager Alan Irvine.

Irvine took Preston to the Championship play-off semi-final, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Sheffield United.

The 50-year-old Scot left his position as assistant manager at Everton in November 2007 to take over at Deepdale.

Steve Coppell resigned as Reading manager after defeat by Burnley denied the Royals a place in play-off final.
