McKenna injury blow for Preston
Paul McKenna
McKenna is North End's longest serving player
Preston's Paul McKenna is likely to miss the start of the season after it was revealed his groin injury could keep him out for another three months.

The 29-year-old midfielder's season ended in mid-February following a series of similar injuries.

"He's been to see a specialist because there has been no improvement," boss Paul Simpson told the club website.

"We've been told he needs a long period of rest. It doesn't look like he'll be fit for the start of the season."

Simpson added: "It's a massive blow, I've been really disappointed with how it has happened but it is something that we want are going to get on with.

"Central midfield is an area that we were looking to strengthen anyway so we are looking to strengthen in that department."
