Preston keeper Andy Lonergan has signed a three-and-half-year contract extension with the club.
Lonergan is a former England Under-21 international
The new deal for the 23-year-old will run until 2011 and there is also the option of a further year.
"He has shown what a quality keeper he is and is pushing Carlo Nash very close for a starting place," Preston boss Paul Simpson told the club's website.
"We all know it has been a frustrating couple of seasons for him with injury but he just has to be patient now."
