Boateng aims to shine at Pompey

Former Tottenham midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng wants to make up for lost time after his move to Portsmouth.

The ex-Germany Under-21 international signed a three-year deal for £4m at the end of August after a frustrating two years at White Hart Lane.

The 22-year-old, who has now declared for Ghana, told BBC Radio Solent: "It's never good to just sit on the bench and not get involved in the games.

"So I am just happy to be here to get a new chance to show what I can do."

He added: "Some things happened during the games there where people said negative things about me. It was an up and down six months."

Boateng made his first start for Spurs in the 1-0 Premier League win at Fratton Park in November 2007.

On Saturday, the Berlin-born player is set to make his Pompey debut at home to Bolton in a bottom-of-the-table clash.

Both clubs are without a point so far this season.
