Pompey plan new training ground

Portsmouth

Portsmouth are to submit plans for a new training ground in Gosport.

The proposed 35-acre site is situated in the Alver Valley in Lee-on-Solent, near Portsmouth, and will host 10 full-size pitches.

Two will be set aside for use by the community, an indoor pitch will be available to local schools and there will be a dedicated goalkeeping area.

Subject to approval the club hopes to complete the work on the £8m facility before the 2009/2010 season.

The club had previously hoped to move to a 55-acre site at Titchfield but plans were turned down by Fareham Borough Council.
