Stefanovic angry at Adams remarks
Portsmouth defender Dejan Stefanovic and assistant coach Tony Adams
Stefanovic is seeking a meeting with assistant coach Adams
Portsmouth captain Dejan Stefanovic has reacted angrily to criticism from assistant coach Tony Adams.

Adams said the defender was at fault for several goals conceded by Pompey recently, but Stefanovic argued he was playing on despite a knee injury.

"Tony should not say these things," said Stefanovic. "Some people would be out for six weeks with my injury but I'm playing because the club needs me.

"I will look to speak to Tony about this. It's serious. I expect better."

Adams criticised Stefanovic after Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic, Fulham's Zat Knight and Watford's Jay DeMerit scored from set-pieces against Portsmouth.

Dejan should not be playing really with that injury

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp

Stefanovic admitted he has been below par - but blames that on his knee ligament problem.

"I'm disappointed with what has been said," said the 32-year-old Serb.

"I'm an honest person and I'm not happy to read these things. Tony knows I'm playing with an injury and should have kept this inside the club.

"I'm angry about it. If he is going to talk about mistakes for goals, why doesn't he do it for every goal we've conceded this season?

"Why not come to me about it? This has really put me down. I have not heard from Tony but he knows the injury situation, so this is disappointing."

However, Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has stood by Stefanovic.

"Dejan should not be playing really with that injury but we've got nobody else to play left back except Matty Taylor and he's ill," he said.
