Redknapp seeks D'Alessandro deal
Andres D'Alessandro
D'Alessandro has been key to Portsmouth's recent resurgence
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he is keen to keep midfielder Andres D'Alessandro at Fratton Park next term, if the club avoid the drop.

The Argentine, on loan from German side Wolfsburg, has impressed in Pompey's run of three straight wins that has given them hope of avoiding relegation.

And Redknapp said of the £6m-rated 24-year-old: "I'd like to keep him.

"If we stay up I would love to build a team around him. I know he can be a major player here if I can keep him."

Wolfsburg signed the playmaker for £6m from River Plate three years ago and have indicated they would be willing to listen to similar offers this summer.

He is a bit of a throwback to Graham Rix as a player

That price tag might not be too much for the south-coast outfit following the arrival of Russian millionaire Alexandre Gaydamak as co-owner alongside Milan Mandaric.

And, with Pompey now having revived their chances of beating the drop following a fine run of form in the Premiership, Redknapp added: "Andres would be a brilliant player to have around next year.

"He has already been superb for us. He is a bit of a throwback to Graham Rix as a player with his magical left foot."
