Portsmouth have told new boy Laurent Robert to concentrate on football after he was fined twice by Newcastle for attacks on former boss Graeme Souness.
The 30-year-old French winger has signed on a season-long loan after falling from favour at St James' Park.
And Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie said: "Players leave clubs in varying circumstances and regretfully they nearly always say something.
"I'm sure Alain Perrin will tell him to concentrate on Portsmouth."
Storrie added: "People should keep their opinions to themselves. I'm sure Laurent will do an awful lot of good for us.
"He's a terrific player who gives us all sort of options."
