The Football Association has charged Portsmouth striker Lomana LuaLua with improper conduct.
The charge relates to comments made by LuaLua about referee Uriah Rennie after Portsmouth's 3-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on 12 December.
LuaLua, who turned 25 on 28 December, was unhappy with a penalty decision after the ball struck Gary O'Neil.
"It does not help when the referee is playing for the other team," said the Portsmouth striker.
O'Neil was standing in the defensive wall when Andy Reid's free-kick struck him.
Mido converted from the penalty spot to make the score 2-1 and Jermain Defoe scored Tottenham's third late in the match.
It was Harry Redknapp's first match back in charge of Pompey and LuaLua added: "It should never have been a penalty and if it was not for that decision I think we would have got something from the game.
"I feel sorry for Harry and for the rest of the team because we played so well and deserved at least a draw."
LuaLua has until 17 January to respond to the FA charge.
