Portsmouth have admitted defeat in their bid to sign Wimbledon youngsters Joel
McAnuff and Nigel Reo-Coker.
McAnuff will stay with Wimbledon
Pompey believed they were on the verge of signing the pair earlier this summer
but Wimbledon's financial plight put their move in doubt.
Wimbledon's administrators were reluctant to authorise any move and now Pompey
chief executive Peter Storrie has given up hope of signing the pair.
He told the club's official website: "The administrators
at Wimbledon have a lock-out agreement with the prospective buyers of the club
regarding the two players.
"As such there is nothing we can do."
