Burrows has surgery
Frank Burrows
Burrows is recovering in hospital
Frank Burrows, assistant manager at West Brom, is recovering from major surgery after being diagnosed with cancer of the kidney.

Burrows was operated on during Saturday and according to his surgeon the procedure went "very well".

Burrows is expected to spend the next two weeks in hospital and it should be at least six weeks before he returns to The Hawthorns as manager Gary Megson's number two.

"It has come as a shock to everyone at the club and the fans," said a club spokesman.

"Everyone wishes Frank a speedy recovery and we are looking forward to seeing him back at the club."

Gary Shelton will temporarily fill in for Burrows.
