Wilkins in Pompey talks
Ray Wilkins
Wilkins has been out of working since leaving Chelsea
Former England captain Ray Wilkins is poised for a move to Portsmouth.

He has already met Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric and boss Steve Claridge over a possible coaching role.

Claridge and his assistant Guy Whittingham are keen to bring in an extra body to help spread the load on the coaching side.

Whittingham said: "It's all about selecting the right person, waiting for that person to become available.

"There are discussions going on with lots of different people.

"If we brought somebody in, it would be somebody who is experienced in the game - not necessarily someone with the ties that we all have with Portsmouth."

Wilkins, 44, has managed QPR and Fulham, but has been out of football since leaving Chelsea last year.
