Port Vale winger Lewis Haldane suffers double leg break

Lewis Haldane
Haldane has made 50 starts for the Vale since 2009

Port Vale winger Lewis Haldane will be out for several months after breaking his leg in two places during Tuesday's defeat at Tranmere.

The 26-year-old will have an operation after spending the night in hospital after being stretchered off in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat.

Vale drew 1-1 at Prenton Park but went out on penalties.

Vale boss Micky Adams told BBC Radio Stoke:"I'm not bothered about the game, my thoughts are about Lewis Haldane."

Haldane has been unfortunate with injuries since his move to Vale Park from Bristol Rovers in 2009.

Last summer he missed the first three months of the season when he had a bad reaction to an insect bite during pre-season training.
