Port Vale new signing Mike Green says he is eager to take his opportunity in the Football League after signing a two-year contract at Vale Park.

Green can play at left-back or the left side of midfield and has joined from Zamaretto League side AFC Totton.

The 22-year-old said: "I've had a good couple of seasons there and I can't wait to try and prove myself in the professional game.

"It came as a bit of a shock but it's a good move."

Green is one of six new signings made by manager Micky Adams, who returned to the club in May.

Ben Williamson, Ryan Burge, Clayton McDonald, Kingsley James and Phil Roe are the other new arrivals at Vale Park.

Green spent time training with Reading, Millwall and Wycombe, but said he could not turn down the chance of moving to Vale.

"I went to Reading for a few days, played a reserve game there and got invited back for pre-season," he added.

"But this move [to Vale] came up so I took it straight away. It's a dream come true."
