Port Vale have made striker Ben Williamson and midfielder Ryan Burge their first signings of the summer.

Both arrive from non-league Hyde, the English partner club of Glenn Hoddle's Academy, which is based in Spain.

Williamson, 22, ended last season with Bournemouth and has agreed a season-long loan, while ex-Doncaster player Burge has signed a two-year deal.

"Both Ryan and Ben are two young players with a lot of potential," boss Micky Adams told the club website.

"We believe the pair can have a big impact on the squad this season.

We are delighted that Ben (Williamson) has agreed to join us, especially as he has turned down a deal at Bournemouth to come to Vale Park

"Ryan is a creative central midfielder and will bring plenty of quality on the ball, but he is also a very hard-working individual.

"Ben is a quick striker who I have been tracking for a while and I believe is a player who can develop with us.

"We are delighted that he has agreed to join us, especially as he has turned down a deal at Bournemouth to come to Vale Park."

Meanwhile, BBC Radio Stoke understands that Vale have missed out on the signing of former Walsall defender Clayton McDonald.

The former Manchester City trainee failed a medical because of a shoulder injury.
