Manager Micky Adams is now eligible to become a director at Port Vale after shareholders voted in favour of his candidacy to join the board.

Adams announced his intention to do so following the club's Extraordinary General Meeting on 1 June, which left just three directors in place.

Vale have received notification from the Football League that they are happy to accept Adams' nomination.

It means the League Two club will be able to engage in transfer activity.

An independent witness verified and ratified the vote, in which Adams received more than the 50% of shares required for the resolution to succeed.

Adams told the club website: "It's less than two weeks until the players report for pre-season training and I am very pleased that we are finally able to bring in new faces.

"It has not been an ideal situation for anyone and I am looking forward to getting out onto the training pitch before the fixtures start in August."

Chief executive Perry Deakin added: "We are obviously delighted that Micky has received the support of our shareholders in joining the board of directors.

"This will offer immediate benefits in terms of signing players and operating as a functioning board, as we prepare for what is certain to be a very busy campaign."
