Port Vale boss Jim Gannon confident of promotion push

Port Vale manager Jim Gannon says his team can climb back into the automatic promotion places, despite picking up six points from their last seven games.

Vale are currently seventh in the table ahead of the visit of Bradford on Friday in League Two.

Gannon told BBC Radio Stoke: "If we keep picking up points then we'll close in on the teams above us.

"We are unbeaten in the last three games but we could have won more," Gannon added.

The Vale boss also insisted that 24-year-old midfielder Anthony Griffith still has a part to play in his promotion chasing team.

Griffith, who is one game away from 100 league starts for the Vale, was dropped for the 1-1 draw with Northampton last Saturday, losing his place to loan signing Exodus Geohagon.

Gannon added: "He's a ball winner and we need people who can play the defensive side of the game."
