Port Vale have signed striker Tom Pope from Rotherham United on a one-month loan deal.

Pope, who is from Stoke-on-Trent, is a Vale fan and has struggled to keep a starting place at Rotherham, making just five league starts this season.

The 25-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a dream move for me, one that I always hoped would happen.

"I can't wait to get playing again and hopefully scoring some goals which will make me more confident."

He added: "Ronnie Moore (Rotherham boss) has been brilliant to let me go out at this time of the season to a fellow promotion rival."

Pope started his career as a trainee at local rivals Crewe and made scored 17 goals in 64 appearances for the club.

He became Rotherham's joint record signing when joined the Millers for £150,000 in 2009.

But since then Pope has only managed to net six goals in 54 games.
