Defender Lee Collins and keeper Stuart Tomlinson have agreed deals to stay at Port Vale till the end of next season.

Collins, 22, whose current deal expires at the end of this season, told BBC Radio Stoke: "[The new deal] will probably be signed this week.

"I'm happy here. The club doesn't want to stay in League Two for much longer and neither do I to be honest.

"If we can push on to League One that will be an extra bonus," added Collins, who joined from Wolves in January 2009.

That followed a successful loan spell, and Collins said he had really enjoyed his football since making the move from Molineux to the Potteries.

"I'm happy coming in to training," he said. "I've had times where I didn't want to wake up and come in but I love football at the moment and this is a good place to be."

Collins also praised the club's coaching staff and manager Micky Adams for his progress, and said he sees Vale Park as a place where he can develop as a player.

"Even before the gaffer came in, the likes of Dean Glover and Lee Sinnott helped me massively," he said.

"Then when the gaffer came with Geoff [Horsfield] and Grewy [Mark Grew], they've helped me progress."
