Louis Dodds has signed a new two-year deal with Port Vale and is immediately eyeing promotion to League One with the club next season.

The 23-year-old midfielder scored eight goals for Vale, who just fell short of a play-off place this season.

"Next year we'll do the same, if not better," Dodds told BBC Radio Stoke. "I think we'll get promoted next year.

"I think [manager] Micky Adams has brought a bit of belief to the club, everyone can see that."

Dodds is the sixth player to agree a new contract at Vale Park since the end of the campaign.

Chris Martin, John McCombe, Kris Taylor, Anthony Griffith and Lewis Haldane have also signed new deals, as Vale look to build on an impressive first season under Adams.

"We finished 10th, which was massive for us," said Dodds. "Hopefully next year we'll do something big and maybe get a little tour of Burslem."

Dodds joined Vale in the summer of 2008, scoring 10 goals in his first season with the club.
