Geoff Horsfield tells Port Vale to relax during run-in

Assistant manager Geoff Horsfield has urged Port Vale's players to keep their cool in their attempt to reach the League Two play-offs.

"Some players get nervous and freeze on big occasions, and not just at this level," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"You watch World Cup, Premier League and Championship games, and you see people freeze. It's just nature.

"We've got to relax the lads and then hopefully we'll get the three points on Saturday against Notts County."

Vale are two points behind seventh-placed Dagenham & Redbridge with three games left to play.

County, who have already won promotion, are the visitors to Vale Park on Saturday. Horsfield's team then travel to Bournemouth and then have a home game against Shrewsbury.

"We're on 64 points and can still sneak into those play-offs," said Horsfield. "If we can maintain what we've been doing, we've got a chance."

Vale are one of the in-form teams in League Two, having taken 18 points from their past nine matches.
