Port Vale snap up winger Haldane

Haldane was placed on the transfer list by Rovers in May

Transfer-listed Bristol Rovers winger Lewis Haldane has joined League Two side Port Vale on a month's loan.

The 24-year-old, who was promoted with Rovers in 2007, could make his debut against Grimsby on Saturday.

Haldane, who can also operate as a striker, spent the whole of last season on loan at Oxford United, where he scored three goals in 37 starts.

Vale have also ruled out trying to sign Colchester striker Jamie Guy, who was also at Oxford last season.

The 22-year-old was set to sign for Vale before the start of the new campaign, but injured his knee in a training session and was forced to return to Colchester for an operation.

Haldane arrives at Vale Park after being placed on the transfer list at the Memorial Stadium by first-team coach Paul Trollope in May.

He has made over 100 starts for Rovers, and was part of the team that beat Shrewsbury in the League Two play-off final in May 2007.
