Striker Danny Glover scored just four goals in 40 games for the Valiants
Port Vale boss Micky Adams has put six players on the transfer list.
Former manager Dean Glover's son Danny, Luke Prosser, Danny Edwards, Steve Thompson, David Howland and Ross Davidson have been told they can leave.
Adams told BBC Radio Stoke: "I need to free up some funds to bring maybe one, two or three of my own players in.
"The only way I can do that is by moving a few on, either on loan or permanently, but I haven't closed the door on any of these players."
He added: "It wasn't an easy decision. It looks like I've made six players scapegoats and that's not the case.
"I like all six players, it's nothing personal and if they do get the opportunity to play at any stage I expect them to give themselves the best chance to play decent football and to maybe say 'I'll prove you wrong'.
"They can only do that if they go out with the right attitude."
Davidson is set to be the first player through the Vale Park exit door by joining Stafford Rangers on loan on Saturday.
