League Two side Port Vale have clinched the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Tommy Fraser on a free transfer.

Fraser was released by Brighton in the close season and becomes Micky Adams' first signing at Vale Park.

Adams told BBC Radio Stoke: "He is someone I can trust. He wants regular football and I think he is the type of player that I need here.

"He is a former Brighton boy, so coming here shows he has faith in me and what I want to try and do here at the Vale."

Fraser made 102 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls, with many of them coming under the management of Adams, who left the Withdean Stadium by mutual consent in February.

One of his three goals for Brighton came in a 2-1 defeat by the Valiants at Vale Park in December 2006.

He told the club's website: "I know the manager from my time at Brighton, and he got in touch with me right away when he was appointed here [at Port Vale].

"I had a couple of other options, but because Micky was here, that was what made up my mind. I can't wait to get the season started."
