Vale talk to potential investors

League Two club Port Vale are in talks with potential new investors.

Current shirt sponsor Harlequin Property are believed to be ready to invest £500,000.

The proposed deal could result in Vale's nine-man board stepping down as part of a restructure aimed at slimming down the current structure.

Harlequin have proposed to buy 24.9% of the club's shares - worth around £340,000 - the maximum they are allowed under club rules.

The Essex-based property developers have also offered to loan the club a further £160,000 to supplement their financial injection.

Meanwhile, boss Dean Glover told BBC Radio Stoke that the recent period had been one of the toughest during his long football career:

"The last few months have probably been one of the lowest periods I've ever had in football because you are trying to impose your methods on the field and also trying to help the club go forward.

"Again it's been very hard because of the credit crunch, which hasn't made it easier at all, but we have to work with what we've got and we will keep believing we will turn the corner and that we'll have a better future down the line."
