Whitaker wants Glover for Vale

Port Vale midfielder Danny Whitaker says caretaker boss Dean Glover should be given the job on a permanent basis.

Chairman Bill Bratt said on Wednesday that a full-time replacement for Martin Foyle would be unveiled next week.

Speaking about Glover to BBC Radio Stoke, Whitaker said: "He's done a great job since Martin Foyle left and it's not been easy.

"The players want the situation sorted. Hopefully Deano will get it because he deserves it, he can do the job."
