Vale seal double deal
Port Vale have completed the signing of much-travelled striker Brett Angell and his former Walsall team-mate Ian Brightwell.

And manager Brian Horton is also hoping to add ex-Vale Park favourite Jon McCarthy and former Crewe midfielder Phil Charnock to his squad after offering the pair deals.

The quartet have been training with Vale, and Angell and Brightwell have been the first to put pen to paper.

"We are delighted we have managed to agree terms and I anticipate both Phil Charnock and Jon McCarthy will also join us after they have gone away to think things over," Horton told the club's website.

Angell, 33, has 158 league goals to his credit and has played for 10 different clubs, including Everton, Sunderland and three spells at Stockport County.

The big striker ended last season at Rushden and Diamonds after leaving Walsall.

Brightwell, 34, also left the Bescot Stadium towards the end of the season with the former Manchester City defender having a brief spell with hometown club Stoke City.
